The History of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage
An iconic resort in the region, located on the Bay of Somme, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage captivates as much with its elegance as with its unique history. Created in the 19th century, this seaside town, located just 15 km from our campsite on the Opal Coast, very close to the ramparts of Montreuil-sur-Mer, was first a forest estate before becoming a popular destination for Parisians seeking nature and sea air. Nicknamed “the garden of La Manche”, it quickly attracted an aristocratic and artistic clientele, giving rise to a chic and lively resort, still highly sought after today.
Seaside Architecture
One of Le Touquet’s great charms lies in its architectural richness. Anglo-Norman villas, picturesque chalets, Art Deco houses… each street is a stroll through styles and eras. The Quatre Saisons or Atlantic districts reveal residences with pointed roofs and colorful facades, symbols of a resort that is both luxurious and whimsical. A bike ride or walk allows you to admire this unique heritage that gives Le Touquet its very special atmosphere.
